Childhood cancer – that's why we are committed to our research
Nine-year-old Hannes has Down syndrome and was diagnosed with leukemia in February 2018.
Despite two years of chemotherapy, the cancer returned. The new CAR-T cell therapy at the UKE gave Hannes a second chance to beat cancer in 2021. “As affected parents you have the feeling of absolute and bottomless helplessness, because you can't do anything actively yourself, you can only hope. The new immunotherapy at the Children's Cancer Center Hamburg gave Hannes a second chance to beat the cancer. For this we specifically wish to thank Dr. Ingo Müller and his team," said Hanne's mother Anne S. "We hope that targeted childhood cancer research will soon make even more innovative therapies available and that all families can hope for survival in the future."
